i have a 00 ds and i have a small coolant leak from the head gasket on the front of the engine. i was lookin on ebay for cometic gaskets and then thought hey why not throw a 11.5 piston in while i'm at it but everything says its for a 01 and newer. i thought the engines were the same, what changed? why do the gaskets and piston not fit my 00 and where can i get this stuff then? thanks

I got the JE 11.5 piston and could not run it on pump gas. Mr. HP checked the piston and I believe found it to be around 13 or 13.5 to 1. I have to run 110 octane race fuel. Just a heads up.

Also to make that piston work like it is supposed to, get the head ported and look for a set of cams, you gotta take all that stuff off anyway might as well make it worth all the work.

haha well i'm not made of money, but if i was doin cams i might as well get some kibblewhite valves and springs. my questin is though will the cometic top end gasket set that they sell for 01 to 03 work on my 00? or should i just buy a head gasket from bombadeer? also has anyone tried machining the head down to increase compression that way?
