How loud is your knocking. DS's have a slight knocking sound from the motor anyway, at least mine does and I've heard that it is a normal sound. So it might not be as bad as you think. I bet you will be all set up with the right jetting on your carb and a Big Gun CDI (Rev Box). Good luck bro.

I was gonna say the same thing, mine was a little louder also, but it always sounded that way. As for the new bike, it better not make any foul noise LOL

I was also going to mention that our mighty Rotax is just inherently loud with all of it's clanging and clattering. Was answering in a rush... That noise is just normal for these bikes and if you ride with no helmet (not recommended) it is even more noticable. Best way to over come it is with an open end cap. Better response, more power, and less enging noise!!!

Dito on the loud clicking... my '02 does the same. Dito on the Pro Comm... ditch it ASAP! Sounds to me like you jetting is off... does the bike have a pipe or filter? One thing to consider is many people return their bike back to stock when they are selling so ythey can then sell the bike stock and all the aftermarket parts seperately (does that make any sense???). Anyway I saw a friends bike with this affliction... the seller removed all the aftermarket stuff, replaced with stock but never returned jetting to stock.
Sounds like you have some experience with bikes... do a valve job, check the cam chain tensioner, and rejet and you should be good to go.

Hi All.....
Well the bike is into the local Rotax/Bombardier specialist and his 1st instinct is that the big end bearings have gone with a small possibility of it being the litte end.
I've been quoted approximately £1000 ($1950) to have the engine stripped and rebuilt.... Does this sound reasonable??
To answer the previous posts, the bike has a full stainless Yoshimura exhaust system & can, K&N induction filter, dynojetted, full ELKA adjustable suspension... And SOOO much more which is guttering because in teh flesh its a real mint A1 quad!!
On the dyno the bike made 79bhp & 96mph, apparently the best one they've ever run :-(
I looked in the oil tank yesterday and noticed the oil was incredibly thin with a pronounced smell of gas, also there looks to be some copper specks in the oil ... I nearly cried :-(

Well we can't run the motor to get the jetting sorted :-(
The bottom end is about to throw a rod, it went from a clicking to a thumping in a matter of minutes of runtime :-S
Hopefully should have the diagnostic report back tomorrow so fingers crossed it's rebuildable!!
