Default 2004 DS 650X Chain

Time to replace. OEM looks over $300 for chain and both sprockets

What is everyone going with? I don't want to go a 520.. Want the durability of the 530

Thanks,
-Moose

I was hoping for types and brands. I already buy most of my stuff from them. There are so many choices out there. I could spend anywhere from $100 to $300.

Thanks,

I suggest the RK X-ring chain, i always had to tighten a stock chain, i ran the x-ring on my '02 and that sucker took a beating! still in awesome shape, so i'll be putting one on my '04 X, but like Dragon said, rocky mountin is where to be

What durability concerns do you have going to a 520? All other sport ATV's run 520's. The 530 on the DS is complete overkill in my opinion. I have been running my 520 x-ring for over a year now and have not had to make a single chain adjustment.

Throw that 530 boat anchor in the trash and pick up a good 520 x-ring....

3 Years on my Sidewinder 520 setup... no chain adjustment, and ZERO wear on the Ti-Moly sprockets.

Just fyi, the stock 530 chain on the DS is 8500 tensile strength. So base you search on that. If you are stuck on the 530, get one atleast that strong in the Non-O ring so that you can reduce the drag a lot. Speed up your rev speed, and you will still feel good about the chain you are running. Just make sure and take care of your chain. Good cleaning and lubing after each ride.

PS those ring chains do not like pressure washers or WD-40. Non-ring chains are super easy to maintain if you ain't lazy

I was wondering if their was any advantage to running the 530? I ride mostly Mud and Rocks and was thinking the bigger rollers...etc.. would help.
