Still the fastest
#1
When I bought my DS 650 new in 2001, I believe it was the fastest stock quad you could by; both in acceleration and top speed.
I've been out of the atv scene for a couple years and am wondering:
Is the DS 650 still the fastest stock quad? (On asphalt, straight line)
Did a search for this, but not satisfied. Verifiable data only please.
Thanks,
Aaron

But as luck would have it. stock for stock the rappy 700 efi out of the box is king.

theres to many 'depends' to answer that kind of question, luck/smarts of the driver is key, who drives better, its like sayin ur gonna track race ur DS against Doug Gust on a 300ex and im def puttin money on the 300ex

Available traction (Tires play an obvious role) gearing, launch capability, acceleration vs. top speed in a drag, weight of the rider, it all matters.
My neighbor with a banshee can out drag me short distance, but I don't even get out of 3rd gear. He's geared low and has 18" rear tires. I'm running 22" rears (with overall gearing close to stock) & could waste him on top end. He's in 5th when I'm approaching the upper end of 3rd.
Nick, I'm not sure if even Gust could pull off a win on a 300ex.

Pure stock the 700r and all the 450's are very fast in acceleration.
The DS is still king for top end.
The DS by design has the most potential.
Bullet bottom end.
For a big bore - great rod length ratio
Etc.
