Nope, they are bad, bad. I have heard a lot of horror stories about them ruining batteries and stuff. I had one and changed to Big Gun to be safe. Sorry for the bad news man.

Actually when I was all stock, except for my bars, I beat a stock 700 raptor. I'm sure a lot had to do with the rider but he rode dirt bikes for years, maybe he was just a wuss but once I hit 4th gear I started pulling away, even after about 5 races.

Last time I was out at glamis I got smoked by a stock 700 piloted by a hot blonde chick who weighed maybe 105lbs. I was generally at least 100 yards behind her, I would catch up on the wide open stuff but then she walked away from me as soon as I let up for any reason. The DS might have better top end (some say) but the acceleration of the 700(along with a 250lb rider difference LOL) killed me. My DS is no stocker either... Lectron 48HV w/ matched intake, Vortex, 15T sprocket, and K&N. With a more even rider weight it would have been muck closer.

i raced a 05 honda 450r and i would beat it up till 4th gear then he would creep past me, i just orderd a 15 front sprocket and a rev box so maybe i will be able to beat him next time we race. and we had about the same top end

when my machine was close to stock, just a uni filter and dynojet kit i raced a brand new 700r with a rider very close in weight and we were neck and neck. considering my machine is a 100 pds heavier and thats a slightly larger displacement i was pretty happy just keepin up with him. motor to motor i think the rotax puts out more power but machine to machine the raptor is just smaller and lighter and faster. still love my big cushy ride better though
