Default aftermarket swingarm

i'm thinkin my next mod should be an aftermarket swingarm. shed a few pounds, and i'd like to shorten it an inch. my quads a 2000 with the long steel swing arm, a friend of mine has an 05 ds and i really like the way the shorter one handles in the woods. is there anywhere i can buy an aftermarket chromoly swingarm that is the shorter stock length but that will bolt directly to my older style ds without needing new caliper brackets and such? i remember reading a post about a member on here that made custom swingarms anyone remember who that was?

I went with an 04 style swing arm.. but only to find out the plastic guards at the bottom (which are also from an 04) doesn't have enough clearance for the sprocket nor the rear disc brake. It's so much lighter too. I am looking into alternative options on how to make it work.

a shorter after market chromoly swins arm may NOT be lighter than a stock 05 swinger. Metal Tech in Az. made both of mine, a + 6 & a +4. the +4 is heavy but i had them use thicker tubeing since i broke the +6 after 3 years of beating it at the dunes & in the desert. they DO make a nice swing arm for around $400.00 if you go with metal tech be sure to send them the skid plate you want to use or you may end up with a banshee mount on your DS swinger. i made my own brackets & skid plate so it was what I wanted. if you are thinking about trying an 05 swinger i still have mine for SUPER CHEAP. just my 2 cents on the weight.

Seems like I am having an issue with the 05 Swingarm guards (the black plastic parts) and clearance of the disc brake and sprocket. I guess if you go with an aftermarket swing arm skid plate it may work. If anyone has made the transition please let me know!!
