kn power kit?

Killerb - Sorry about the lady statement earlier, Guess I'm a dirty-butt! You know, after a ride, just after a rain - you get that skid-mark up your backside from mud on the seat. Anyways, I just installed the kit myself. The throttle cable is the worst, install it before you reinstall the carb onto the boot - makes it easier. Stage 1 or 2? Stage one will be a (on mine anyways)175 main and the needle on 3 w/ air box removed, runs best. Stage 2 is 180 main and clip on 2 from top on the needle. This made a big diff in the mid & highs. I don't know what people are talking about when they say the DS id lacking in low end power! This unit is a grunting F...M.......! I guess I'm used to a 2 storke power band. Good Luck.

The phillips head screws that hold carb covers were so tight on mine that they nearly got stripped removing them,so be careful w/screws.Also be careful when removing needle from slide the small spring might jump out & could get lost, luckily the kit comes with a new one. Finally the throttle cable is a real pain in the but to reinstall, almost takes three hands.

killerb, stage two is with the air box removed and filter clamped right to the carb. DS650Dave is right about the screws, I took my carb off and almost did the same thing. I took the carb to the dealer and they loosened the screws for me. I don't know what jetting you'll use with that pipe. Just go up two or three sizes and test, drop sizes as needed. Carb tuning is timely process, tuned correctly - not tightly. That's mine, it means - if tuned right it'll run good in a 30 degree temp differnce. If tuned to tight, you'll be changing mains every 10 or so degrees and or rebuilding a top end. The latter runs faster but cost more. Hope this helps.
