Default ds650 mods?

I have a 01 ds650 stock. I just recently purchased a jet kit and a k&n filter to start off the mods but not installed yet. Also I have been looking into putting a slip on exhaust and a rev box from big gun. Could anyone tell me are they any good or would it be just as good to put a billet power tip on? And also the best all around tires - I drive in everything from dirt, sand , mud and snow.

Looks like you're on the right track. The billet tip will give you as much power as most slip on exhaust systems. I was surprised to notice very little if any power increase when I put my custom CT drag pipe on compared to my stock pipe with the cheap ebay billet tip. They work really good! I mostly put it on for the weight savings as my Pig is on a constant diet. If you want to spend more money to look good and lose a little weight go for it. It you want to save a few bucks get the tip. Also Big Guns are a good rev box for not too much $$$. Good luck! You will like the new power you gain.

I really enjoyed the increase from the jet kit, K&N and especially the Big Gun CDI. My next step is the Exhuast tip.

For tires, my 22" Dirt Devils really hook up - in mud, dirt, and snow (haven't been to any sand to try them in). The only problem with them, is that they really hook up (I know it sounds funny) - which can be problematic on the track - when you want to slide the corners and stay on the throttle - they grip instead of sliding - which makes on-track cornering a bit slower in flatter corners. For woods trail & general riding in summer or winter, they are great! I haven't gotten stuck yet - even in 1-2 foot snowdrifts.

Also, if you swap out to larger than stock tires (Stock are 20x11x9), then you will want to drop your front sprocket by a tooth. If you are a heftier individual like I am, you may even want to drop 2 teeth to a 14t front sprocket.

I agree that would be another great mod to go to a lower front sprocket. You will notice a good gain in how quick you get up and go. On dirt you would be fine with 15t front, if you ride much sand you might want a 14t front.

You can get a DYNA ignition from ebay for around $175 now. I would spend the extra and get that over the Big Gun or the like.

Chris

Tires: I run Kenda Sport Radial K549, and they are a great all-round tire. I still like the ol' Dunlop KT335's from the old Raptor. One of the best all-round tires I have tried was a set of 22" Pure Sport Realtors I borrowed from a friend to try. Great traction everywhere. I think a 22" tires definatley works better on the DS. The only bad thing with the Realtors is they are HEAVY and not easy to find.
