ok so...i jetted the engine properly. changed spark plugs. checked for any air leaks from headers to motor. i fiddled around with the pilot screw. 2 3/4 seems to be pretty good. im out of ideas...someone mentioned adjusting my valves but idk how to do that and i looked it up but...failed...this seems like mission impossible...when i accelerate there is plenty of power , but when i let off i get a few pops...should i record it and put it on youtube??? thanks!!

I know its frustrating, but I think you are probably still too lean, either on the needle or on the main jet or both. You say you are now jetted correctly, have you done a plug check to know for sure? Are you positive you put the spacers and washers back on the needle correctly? If it was me, I would just keep jetting up until it stopped popping like that. If that doesn't work, I would ditch the airbox lid you have, use the stock lid, and try to get it running correctly set up like that. If that doesn't work, I would ditch the Dynojet kit, and try the stock needle and jets instead, with the stock airbox lid.

Adjusting the valves is more involved than messing with the carb. Personally, I have always been too chicken to do it myself, and left it to the dealer. However, if you do a search on "valve adjustment" or "adjusting valves" or just "valves", I am sure that you can get all the information and tips you would need, if you are inclined to do it yourself.

Good luck, I hope you get to the bottom of this.

IF it is the vavles, it is a piece of cake to check. Do a search for any post done by EagleCollector. He has a link to a site he started way back when, and it has a step by step to checking and adjusting valves. Just have to open it with fire fox, and exploror is not opeing the links right now.

Check the diaphram on that there carb also. If you got a little tare in it, it would cause issues also. Make sure the snorkle, and the rubber hose from the carb to intake have no air leak issues.

Thanks guys!!

how much of a pop is it? just a lil one? or like a gun shot? my 02 with the end cap pops a few times under engine braking but there not very load, i think its just b/c of how free flowing your pipe is but im not sure.
