Ds 650 starting problems
Ok guys i am really at a loss here. I apoligise for this soon to be lengthy message but i need some help. I have a 2000 Ds 650. Long story short there was a t shirt that was dubbed in for an air filter that was sucked in though the motor(dont ask) ...all the way though. It shut down an would not start from there on out. So a buddy helped tear it down and clean everything. everything looked good, so we put it back together. Well he timed it wrong and bent both my exaust valves. So i fixed that issue put it all back togeather and it still will not start. I have good compression, good spark and its getting fuel. It just will not fire. All it does is spurt and pop. Its timed right now, no question. It has a ron wood cdi, a bigger carb... mikuni somthing or other. it ran absolutety awsome up until it sucked in the shirt. And hasnt run since. I really cannot figure it out. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave

Try running some jumpers to the batt when starting. The DS needs a fully charged battery to start... even if it says its charged on a meter, try with the jumpers. If that doesn't work you may want to re-check your timing. You may be 180 degrees off... when you installed your cams did you use a TDC bolt? If you have spark, compression and fuel, and your battery is good, that would be my next guess.
