Default Carb mounted Filter

Is it better to run the box or the filter directly mounted to the carb. I currently am running the stock carb. I heard these carbs need vaccum or something like that. So do I need the box or what?

Great question. In my experience I run the stock carb(modified) with no air box but you have to run the snorkel tube, not a direct mount filter. It helps the DS breath quite a bit better. If you ride mostly dunes you don't need the air box. If you ride quite a bit of trails I would keep the air box on and run with the lid off. Hope this helps .

I know a few people that run it direct mount and have not had a problem but Seth does run the snorkel tube with his. It does work well.

Stock I believe. Ask Scott The Stir. He runs it. It is also the same carb that is on the Predator and many of them run direct mount.

A few HP is the most simple answer, and also a few hundred smackers! LOL

Yea, your right silverbomb, but what I was wondering is do they run the same like with the vaccum tubes and snorkel and all that extra stuff I don't understand? I know very little about carbs, but this thing has me all confused.

No, the TM45 is a flat slide carb so it does not run off of Vaccum. You can run the snorkel or direct mount with them. With the stock carb you want to run a snorkel for sure.

Okay, now what is this emulsion tube and what does it do, and waht is the importance of vaccum in the air box. I am currently running with out a lid do I need to go and find a lid, or is running with out okay?
