Default Outlander Reliability issues

Had an '05 Outy 400 Max XT and loved it. Very reliable, lots of power (for riding and snowplowing), great tires, and the softest ride you could imagine for the passenger. Also everyone who drove it loved it.

After 3 years, I sold it, fetching a good resale price, and bought an '09 Outy 650 MAX XT. Haven't used it much yet, but it seems just great, and I love the new display since I DON'T need reading glasses to see it.

In my view, the Outy Max is the best bike made, and I can't see myself riding anything else.

It's nice to know that an option is available for those concerned with the frame issue.

Really appreciate the link provided.

YES...I realize this is an older thread, but it still holds value to me. I do not plan on buying my next ATV until March or April...so any info that can be added...is really welcomed!

Well a couple of months ago I purchased a slightly used 08 800 outlander XT.
So far I haven't had any issues and its a real fun machine to ride. I also own a Polaris sportsman 700 x2 2008 and I really like that machine also.
However when I ride with other machines 700 king, 700 grizzly and smaller(cc) bikes the 800outy is the favorite for everyone.
I put on a QRS slip on pipe and it sounds great.
IMHO there is no bike out there that delivers the performance and fun factor the the outlander does.

On my second 800 XT. First one was a 2006. NEVER had a problem with that machine. The one (2008) now is doing great. I did snap the winch cable a couple times plowing....no big deal. Nothing comes close to this bike...Ive tried them all and have owned a ton.

Go get one.

What ever you or anyone buy do yourself a favour & put on a set of aftermarket tires (all makers have crap stock tires) you won't regret it,get a good set with a least 6 ply. Make it part of your deal or at least get them to give them to you for half price.

i just copped an brand new 08 outlander 650 xt and this mother is a beast. so far so good i put on a 150 miles and havent had any problems yet. my buddy has a sportsman 600 and has nothin but problems with it. ive ridden it plenty of times and the outlander does everything better. we both like it over the sportsman. i also ride with a grizzly 700 and i brute force 650 and from our experiences the outlander was deffinatly the right choice.

On our '05 Outlander 400 XT we've had a relatively small amount of problems in our 3500 miles so far.

We had a thermostat go out, resulting in the fan not turning on, therefore ending in overheating.

We've lost our rear trunk lid three times while trailering, more of an annoyance though.

The brakes suck. That's one of my biggest complaints about this wheeler.

I can't think of anything else right now though. Pretty pleased.
