Hooking plow to winch question
#12
Anyone think we could get another forum set up for "Plows and Other Implements?" It may help others who are plowing (and using other implements) but driving non-Bombardier brands. BTW, I am very happy with my first plowing---a few inches of rain soaked slush. After a few adjustments (tightened the tension on the plow springs so it didn't fold as much) it kicked butt. The plow feet kept getting loose and served little purpose. I was concerned about plowing away my stones but my driveway was pretty frozen anyway. The nuts on the plow feet kept coming loose and after two tightenings, I gave up and just plowed without them. They were still attached but were not functioning to keep the plow blade slightly above the surface I was plowing.

i had to go to synthetic on my winch due to the fact that it wasnt being lifted off the ground with the regular cable with the metal clasp on it..it was hitting the winch and not drawing in enough..i have a 60inch plow and it is heavy...i went to syn thetic and it has been fine...draws up nice and hasnt broke or splintered yet....

Well, I've joined the list of peeps with snapped cables. I have quite a plowing project here with a steep driveway and it's .3 mile long! I managed to plow it six times until the cable broke. Luckily, it broke right at the house rather than .3 mile down the road. I cut off about 18 inches and reclamped it. I made a few more passes in my parking area and it broke again. I called all over and no one has a synthetic rope in stock but my local independent shop ordered one for me and it will be in just in time for a nor'easter heading this way Tuesday. Sigh...
