You need an XP850 it will run circles around your 800.

 

In what world? The 850 is a nice machine, but at 150 lbs heavier and just shy of the
Can Am 800's hp, it ain't gonna happen. The new Can Am's have all a person could want in a high performance utility quad and then some. Ride them both, look them over carefully and you won't have any trouble making up your mind.

 

Outback31 has a Polaris 800, the new XP850 will run circles around it.

I have ridden both CA 800R and XP850, the performance is too close to tell by seat of the pants. The XP with EPS and all the XP improvments put it ahead of the CA.

I thought we were talking about 2010's. Dual rate p/s, instant locking Visco Loc, Air suspension and more are all available on the Can Ams's. And I agree on the Popo 800, my 06 800 Outlander will literally half track them in 300 feet.

 

Can't compare 2010s yet, CA does have to catch up. If the power steering is any good and the QE viscos works out, they should be on top again. But who knows what Polaris may change for 2010?

 

Thats the nice thing. Can Am keeps raising the bar and the others have to follow suit or fall behind even more. Thats good for all us that enjoy ATV's.

Well, this is good news, sounds like the 2010 LTD will be an awesome machine..

but I still hate power steering... I find that our 08 offers comfortable steering... the bars have never been ripped out of my hands or have really vibrated too much, and I have rode some REALLY bumpy terrain (riding the same terrain on my suzuki LTR450 has gotten me stuck or once even thrown over my bars!).

So I think we will be sticking with our 08 800 for a while! lol

 

It was Polaris that raised the bar this time and Can-Am is now trying to follow suit. Can-Am's PS and Visco upgrades I'm sure will be nice but until they change a few others things, starting with the frame, they'll be hard pressed to be on top. As for hp, the common speculation is that the 850 is just shy of the Outty 800 because Can-Am changed their report to C.A.R.B. from 68 to 71 shortly after Polaris made the claim of 70 hp. As for the weight issue, there's a 120 lb difference between the XP (780) and the non-XT Outty (660), the XT package adds about 80 lbs and you haven't added the mandatory skids or frame mod yet, the weight will be within a few pounds by the time your done. Once you've experienced power steering you won't want to ride one without.

 

I have tried the Grizzly. Bought one for my wife. I, for one, don't care for it. There is no "feel" through the handlebars. Yes it is nice for no kickback, but that is also it's shortcoming. Can Am's selectable dual rate power steering may be better but I have to wait til I can ride one to find out. This rest of your arguement just proves you have no experience with a Can Am and are chasing ghosts.
