bearman did you want a stock header?

 

What is everybody doing to prevent the header nuts from coming loose every 15 minutes? I keep on tightening them but the flange just bends inward and the nuts still come loose. By the way I started with brand new studs and nuts when I installed the pipe. I used anti-sieze lubricant on the threads like the service manual says. Loctite seems to be the direction I'm headed, but this seems to contadict the service manual recommendation. Also, which loctite to use. I bought high temperature red. Is this too stong? Is loctite useless at 1200 degrees? The other thing I tried was using 1" spacers between the flange and the head to keep the flange from bending in. However with 1" spacers, the header is not tight enough to prevent leaks. I could shave the spacers down but what a pain.

If you use locktite the next time you try to take the nuts off the entire stud will back out of the head.I went to a honda dealer and found self locking nuts,not the kind with the plastic inserts they will melt but the kind that is slightly oblong.They have a 12 mm head and a flat shoulder.They must be replaced every time you take them off so pick up a couple of spares.

big R I have the CT racing pipe the streight tip has a big bark but it also uses suppertrap 4" discs so you can set your own nise level, re: bearman, woods may also be using this system

Do NOT use red loctite if you ever want to get them off again. Red should only be used for super hi-vibes or stuff that will never be removed. Maybe a spot of hi-temp silicone will be enough to keep the them from backing off if vibration is just the problem.
