I know this has been hammered to death, 2000 ds died on trail,still had the original battery in I had the ds since 2000 pull started it ,ran great for a while then started popping like a old john deere 2 cylinder had the thing pegged in 5th and was only going about 15mph then it died pulled it agin but still ran like crap,
put a brand new interstate battery in ran great for about 3 hours then back came the loss of power and popping battery dead again.
couldnt test anything because I was on a 2 day trail adventure with my son at our cabin,got it home checked the voltage a the battery with the thing running,only 12 volts,doesnt change when giving gas , thinking maybe a voltage regulator? how do test one?
I can buy one with the money I saved on batteries can anyone believe 9 years on a stock battery and I live in wisconsin and ride in the winter too.
any help would be great.
