The DS is the new 250R?

It seems like the DS is an other one of those icons such as the 250R. A machine very unique among it's peers, perhaps even more so that the 250R since the Honda had the Kawi & Suzi with similar models but there has never been nor will most likely ever be another sport quad the size & comfort of the DS. Y'all think parts will be readily available for a good while? Maybe a few years down the road DS's will bring in a good price close to or above what they cost new if cared for or restored? Just thinking out loud here....

There will never be another 250R, simply because of the current landscape of performance ATVs.
If anything, the YFZ is the one that everyone is always shooting to beat. So it is the closest thing to a 250R as we have today.

If I had a choice, and both were in the same condition, I'd take the 250r hands down.
The current 450 class has a lot of competition between manufacturers. Honda didn't really have any competition matching the 250r.

And at first I thought you were comparing the 250r to the ds250.
After the 4 wheels, I couldn't think of anything they had in common.

Companies have to make parts for discontinued models for a minimum of 10 years. I dont know about you guys, but where I ride/race, we're starting see more and more DS650s pop up all the time. But like the 250r, when it was first discontinued, the bottom fell out of the used market (good time to buy). But also like the 250r, Ill bet that the price of a good used DS will really go up in the next couple years. I still hang on to the hope that we havnt seen the last of the big DS. I hope that Can Am releases a newer version. A DS700 or 800 with a new frame made with a bunch of aluminum. How cool would it be to have the Outlander 800 twin on a manual transmission in a DS frame???

If you were 6-5 plus and wanted a sport quad the DS650 was your machine. It never had much respect when compared to the Raptor 660 and Predator of old. But it had something neither of them had. An incredible motor. I think the DS's legacy will be in Drag racing. Look what guys like Mr. Horsepower have done, a couple sub 4 second bikes in 300ft drags.

The DS refered to is the DS650. Definitely kind of a cult bike. Those who have one love them, those who don't have no idea and talk trash about them. As a big guy there is no other dune bike for me. I just keep improving things on mine as if it were a classic musclecar. It gets faster, handles better, and looks better every season. Currently a 770 with some head work. I love smoking the little dudes with their piped and jetted 450's and 700's. I don't mind putting some bucks into it, as it is cheaper than buying a new quad. (if there was one available that fit me.
I don't ever think it will be like the 250R though. The mighty DS only fits a certain niche (6ft+ and 250+)
