Default A Little Help Plz!!!!

Ok i just bought a 2002 DS 650 BAJA and i had it check at the shop. i called them back and they told me my rear axle bearing are going out and it going to cost me $500+ to fix it. Yet i get online and look the bearings are only $40 and people do there own work! So could it be the shop is trying to get rich off me are is there something that could cost that much?? Also if i just bought a new swing arm would this solve the problem?

If you can do basic mechanic work you can fix it your self, you might need an impact gun to get the hubs off. Pick your self up a shop manuel and you can do all the work
There is nothing hi tech on a ds. If you look around you should be able to get a + 4inch swingarm for around 300 you will want to put new bearings in anyway. you don't want to ruin the axel

Shops aren't selling bikes this year. Your bearings are probably O.K. but you should help your local shop stay afloat and let them do the bearings anyway.
Run away from that shop and don't look back!

$500 WHAT A RIP !!! local shop or not you can do it yourself for much less. you can get the OEM parts from bike bandit. it only takes a couple of hours to change them out. i think you cvan get your service manule from bike bandit as well. a good service manule will walk you through it and should have pictures as well. just my 2cents

The Stealerships are hurting like every other facet of the economy, of course they want to stay in business and are more than willing to screw people over on repairs. For 30$ in bearings and a 20$ factory service manual and a few tools and some time you can do the work yourself!

My local stealership wanted 189$ apiece for a set of Razr2's and 20$ each to mount them! Screw those bozo's!!!!!!
