i have a 00 ds and the engine is verry loud sounds like the valves are hiting the piston.its been this way from day 1. the vale clearance is good, just dont sound good. anyone know of any way to quiet it down.

 

Mine sounds like that too I think it's a normal sound it's just a beast live with it

The cam chain may not be tight enough. By mistake, I inserted the cam chain tensioner backwards after checking the valves and I noticed the ticking noise at low RPM. Check to be sure yours is in correctly and that the bolt is set to the proper torque.

FYI: the narrow end of the cam chain tensioner points outward from the housing, not inward.

Yes I go to LS a few times a year, maybe more once I have my new machine. I will probably be their the weekend before or after snake hunt - not sure I want to deal with the crowd and parking for snake hunt weekend, but maybe I'll go for snake hunt instead.

FYI: DS650's with 11/99 manufacturing date are 2000 models. 7/2000 manufacturing date is 2001 model.

 

ScoobyDFW if you decide to go rattlesnake weekend let me know. some of the guys from my group are heading down there easter weekend to reserve about 10 camping spots in the main area. so if you want we can save some room for you.

 

650MANIAC, I finally got my Turbo. I may head to LS to ride on Saturday 14th and/or Saturday the 21st. My stays are very short, usually don't camp out, use daytime parking if arrive early enough in the morning on Saturday.
