Wicked oil pressure problem??? ds650
Hey fellas,
2006 ds650, oil BLOWING! from my crank case vent, I know you are thinking broken rings right.....but listen to this
I recently had a shifting problem and with the quad, then still under extended warnty went to get it fixed... they had the motor completly tore down and asked if i wanted to upgrade the piston because the cylinder was in great condition, I bought the 11.5:1 piston and rings and away they went.
Got it back oil blowing like crazy from the vent, took it back, they tried some lame oil bottle to "catch" the oil....slowed it down a little at best.
FYI this repair shop had been in the same place close to 30 years quite reputable to say the least....they are now gone closed the doors and moved to texas or something...
O.k. now the crazy thought... I hooked up an oil pressure gauge to see what was going on...keep in mind the bombardier shop manual that I purchased says it should idle minium at 7psi and be arround 44psi at 6000 revs and it says it should never go above 87psi...well my bike idles at 55psi and when reved up hits maybe 60 or 61psi...it seems really high at idle to me...Is it possible that the oil pressure regulator is malfunctioning causing the abnormally high pressure, which in turn causes to much oil to be in the crank case at any given time and therfore blow it all over the world...
Just a thought, let me know what you think.
