The most commonly used DS CDI's are

Ron Woods - No rev limit with a very good timing curve.

Vortex - 1000RPM over stock. Various timing curves that can be selected depending on riding style. ~$400 new

Big Gun - Quality budget CDI. 1000RPM over stock with a good timing curve. ~$150

Stay away from ProCom CDI's are any of the other Ebay look alikes. THey are known to have issues when used on the DS.

For your level of mods and riding I would say just go for the Big Gun. I have personally used both the Vortex and Big Gun with success.

Its a bit more expensive than the big gun. 8900 rev limit. better curve than big gun. cheaper than ron woods. ron woods will probably give you the best bottom end gain but it costs alot and not having a rev limiter is scary... sorry about the other comment.
