Default rene 500 or 800?

the time has come to purchase a new atv. i own a couple scrambler 500's for comparison sake.
i cant decide if i should get the 500 or 800. i dont care about power steering or the extra frills. would the 500 provide enough power for me compared to the scrambler which has served me well? theres a couple local dealers with 2009 and 2010 rene800 for 8-9k and 2011 500 for 8k?

they are on same frame and size so you should get the 800 if you can afford to...plus its time to move on up to a bigger class..you will be amazed

i can def afford it. not only did i win my case forcing my dept to give me my job back i got a years worth of back pay and i won my lawsuit against the county. my backpay alone was 112K after taxes.

my local dealers have a decent stock do to the economy taking a crap so there are deals to be made. what wouldbe a good price for a 2010 standard 800 and a 2009 standard 800?

i was qouted 9499 for a 2009x and 8499 for a 2010 800r. i dont care for the power steering and im going to insall PRM skids and a rack.

Quick comparison between Scrambler and Renegade 500. Rene is faster and gets better gas mileage. My son's Rene leaves my Sportsman X2 in the dust easily. I know the Scrambler is good power-wise but the Renegade is that much faster. Scrambler power slides better due to the straight axle but the Renegade will clear obstacles better with a more comfortable ride due to IRS. The Rene will lighten up the front end under acceleration so it's wise to come off the power going into turns. Even more so with the 800 Renegade that has uber-power. When my son was looking for a sportier quad than his ATP (not hard to find something sportier) we looked at the Scrambler, Renegade and the Yamaha Wolverine. All great quads but I think the Renegade 500 is tops in this class.

whats funny is ive owned a 450 wolverine. it had filter, pipe and tune. it was fun and all but the scrambler left it power wise. all my scramblers have the same mods-full exhaust, filter, jet kit and clutch kit. they do well and haul my 230lb *** around with ease. what i really like about the rene is the IRS and extra torque.

im hitting up all t he dealers local to me tommorow. if they can make it happen i would love to walk away with a rene800,rene 500 and 6x12 trailer for around 15k

If you get the 500 you'll end up spending additional money on mods trying to get more out of it. If you get the 800, you won't need to. I just bought a used 2008 800X, they are fast.
