Default update

locally i have it narrowed down to 2 renegades.
2009 800x in black for 9299$

2010 800r in red for 8499$

im leaning towards the red one based on price and being a year newer. could someone explain the differences between the X and R for those years? also, other than a slip on,clutch kit and tune what other mods are needed? i already ordered the frame support/slide in piece and a rear prm rack.

Not 100% sure but I believe the X has beadlock rims (may not be true beadlocks) that would hold the tire on. Maybe handguards? Different styling.

yesterday i had to make my way into the bayarea and i stopped at a can-am dealer in santa rosa. i rode an X and it was insane, but i hated the PWR steering. i felt disconnected from the quad. the sales person was kinda "slow" to be polite,so he didnt know much. can you turn the pwr steering off?

things like the magneto, can they be added/upgraded too?

I don,t think a 500cc is large enough to be a twin on a 4 stroke, the 500 loses low end grunt do to it ,it needs its rpms up to make its power. Not great for slow technical riding. Here is a 500 shootout about it.
4x4 ATVs Comparison Test Report - What's the Best 500 Utility ATV?

Conclusion

The 500 Can Am 4x4 ATVs - aren't really in to the utility side of things. That hurt the Outlander's finishing position in this test. If you ride faster more open trails and don't care so much about doing chores with your ATV - this 500 that runs like a 700 might be for you!
I like the 650 Outlander its displacement is large enough to justify a twin without relying on RPM as much for its power.

Yamaha and Suzuki know thumpers but out more power at lower rpm which is what most atv trails call for. Even there big bore 700s and 750s are singles.
