problem with my 400 outlander

Default problem with my 400 outlander

was out ridding today not ponding on it like always in mud and i was keeping it under 15mph when ridding on the trail and mud but id go to stop and it started missing and keeped wanting to die and back firing when letting off the gas going slow or fast could it be timing or do i need the shim the valve its not smoking
