I just also got a new to me 2000 ds650. What about other maintenance like valve train or any other thing that need to be looked at. Oil and coolant are straight forward.

the first oil change may get messy so kinda expect it.Look around for a manual for servicing your valves or have the shop do it if you dont feel comfortable.The big rotax is reliable but like anything else it needs maintenance from time to time.

I did oil change last week, wasnt too bad/messy, I made a cardboard 'tunnel' from the oil tank drain to a bucket, the filter probably made the most mess.

I ordered new plugs (no I havent even inspected the orig yet), a 15t front sprocket for a lil more low end, new brake pads (just to have). I got a KN filter coming. I plan to get a CDI very soon and hopefully exhaust, then maybe ill be happy for a bit...
