Default Hard shifting when cold DS650

Hello all, I just picked up an 04 Baja X. Very clean bike with documented service history. Tonight I was just riding around the neighborhood and noticed it is very hard to shift into second until about 10 minutes of riding and then it is smooth through all the gears. Is it just a matter of everything warming up or is there a problem developing?
Thanks for your help.

How is your clutch adjustment? The cable may need tightened or loosened. The proceedure should be in your owners manual.

If it still does it after adjusting your clutch there is a good chance the previous owner may have replaced the stock clutch pack with a Barnett 9-disc. I had similar problems when I had one installed on my DS regardless of how I adjusted the clutch. IT was very notcy when cold and hard to find neutral. Got better as it warmed up...

Oil weight could also be a factor

Thanks for the information. I called the guy and he did replace the clutch but could not give me a brand. As long as it keeps running the way it is I will be happy. This bike is quite a bit more fun then the 400ex and Z400 that I recently got rid of.
