I picked up an 04 Baja X back in the fall. It was in really good shape and I got it for a deal. I had to replace the needle and seat as the carb was leaking. I've taken it out a bit, this some bitch rips
I bought the oil awhile back but haven't had a chance to change it. Today I had the time. On here and other forums I've heard what a mess it is to change the oil on these. And today I found out first hand. Thought I'd put a funnel under the sump as to not make a mess and it couldnt keep up. Ended up running down the main skid pan, what a mess. I didn't have to bleed the bleeder in the filter housing, which was good. I use good oil (Amsoil) so I wont have to do this as often, good thing. Cant wait for my next time out!!!

you dont need to bleed the 04's ... here is alittle trick ... the hose that connects to the bottom of the oil tank. remove it on the engine side and quickly put it in a drain pan. this cleans up the oil change. 2nd trick ... there is a screen to clean on the tank side of that hose. once the oil is drained remove the hose and remove the nipple that holds the hose. that nipple is the screen. you see once you remove it. 3rd trick ..the filter, tip the quad on its side(shifter side, fuel off) and change the filter, this keeps any oil from spilling on the quad.
4 dont forget you have to drain the oil on the bottom of the engine also .....
