High Idle
#1
Hey all,
Got a big gun slip-on and big gun cdi put on, also put in dynojet needle (2nd groove) and 180 main jet (as per instructions) and turned mixture screw out ~2 turns.
She started up fine and ran good but idled quite high, almost 3000rpm. I turned in idle adjustment til it idled higher then backed off but wouldnt go lower than 3k.
I had to go out for a bit, when I came home I plugged in oem cdi and fired up and idled right around 1500rpm. Plugged in the big gun and idled around ~1800rpm, tried adjustment screw again but wouldnt go lower.
I removed needle and put in 3rd groove (from top), wasnt sure if it would have any effect or not on idle. ( I dont think it does?)
Any ideas how to get my idle a bit lower?

Is your throttle cable adjusted properly? Sounds like the slide might not be going all the way back down. Give her a look anyway.

I should clarify its on a 2004 ds650, w/ kn air filter as well.
I went out to load bike in truck and it started and idled @ 1100, I turned the idle screw in a few turns til it picked up to 1500rpm.
I checked the throttle cable adjustment earlier, I backed it out, started it and it went right to ~6500rpm!! So I turned it back in all the way (this is on the carb just to clarify).
I also noticed the big gun pipe isnt sealed properly around the stock pipe, theres a decent air leak there so I need to fix that.
Edit: What is a good idle rpm anyways, 1200-1400?
