KY Trip Report - DS Wins Again
#1
I know this isn't a race like the others but I pleased anyhow. Went to Livingston, KY for 3 days of hard riding. During them 3 days (in our group of 2 Raptors, 3 LT250R, 1 230 QuadSport, 2 Warriors, 1 Banshee & 3 500 HO) only the Polaris's & my DS650 came back w/o any damage or rollovers.
Report:
Raptor 1: Rollover
Raptor 2: Tire & Skid Plate Issues
LT250R 1: Leaking Center Seal
LT250R 2: Broken A-Arm
230 Sport: Broken Front Sprocket
Warrior 1: Rollover
Warrior 2: Rollover & Loose Rear End
Shee: Rear Brakes & Messed up Rear End
I know this doesn't mean much, but I know have the right to say the DS is a fine, strong & durable machine to the guys in my group that has said things like "It's way to big", "It's too heavy, because they built the swingarm & a-arms to thick". To all I have to say(in our group)....... "Shoulda bought a DS, you would been riding instead of wrenching"! Had fun, hope to do it again, real soon.

O no A rollover!!! Give me a break. Taht just means the guys knew how to ride and wasnt scared to push the bikes to the limits. Any bike is realiable. If you take care of it it will most like last a long time. Even a Polaris.

Hey any idiot can roll a quad, it doesn't matter what kind of quad either. I don't see how you can say" A roll over meant he knew how to ride" That's stupidity! If you can push your machine (whichever it may be) to the limits and not roll over, that is SKILL! That's how you seperate the people whom have experience from novices.

Wow, the DS and a Polaris are lumped into the same group! I'm not so sure that's something you want to go around bragging about, know what I mean?
Also, on the point of stupidity causing a rollover, are we saying that the Raptor is better for experienced riders and that the Polaris and DS are better for those with little skill? Don't answer that, it's a stupid question to a similar comment. Really, the Raptor does benefit from a wider axle and makes it a little more newbie-proof.
In 3 days of riding, don't you have some stories to tell us how you compared or even smoked the Raptors in the woods riding?
Have you ever been to Turkey Bay at LBL? It's a good place to ride also.

No stories to tell, we didn't ride fast enough to loose each other. The post was too let all DS OWNERS, know that my DS withstood the abuse of Livingston. And YES, I do think polaris puts out a good quad! They have to, too have sold over a 1,000,000 since 85. More than Honda, Yamaha and others. Not that many people buy junk! The traction there is great, even if it rains. Lots of rocks to give a challenge. I myself work 3 times longer on my bike doing maintanence, than I do ride. I hate to work on it during a ride. With this said, I don't have to wrench on my bike during a ride. But I did wrench (or atleast looked on) on a Shee, LT250R & Raptor this past weekend. All I had to do with the DS is add gas.
