Default clutch actuator issue during clutch install!!!

so i did my clutch install today and everything seemed to go great!! well untill i put the clutch cover back on.. it seems some how i messed up the clutch actuator pivot.. i lined up the flat side with the sloted teeth in the cover, put 2 bolts in the case and tested the arm... when i firsted pulled/pushed the arm, it made a popping noise and spun a 180* while popping....so i took the case back off set the pivot needle to my marks i made before the initial removal, put the case back on and it seems to have the 1in. travel but will not return. even witht the clutch cable it will not return.. it's almost like a spring popped somewhere..
can anyone give me some insight as to the proper way to put the case on and have the actuator work properly and spring back???

thanks

its been a while but i think your problem is that when the arm is where it was the plunger has to in the threads, so you have to move the arm back further, so it slides in the threads as it moves the arm back to where it should be. if that makes any sense to you.
