Im new at this 4x4 stuff, but its something my son wanted to get into. I recently purchased a 2000 arctic cat 400, (cheap) it wont start. I put a new battery and spark plug in and nothing works but the rad fan and lights, can anyone help

 

does the starter turn the engine over? if so pull the plug , ground the base and check for spark while cranking it over. also smell the plug when you pull it , does it smell like gas? if you have spark, try pouring a little gas in the plug hole , reinstall the plug ,if it tries to start or starts then dies, you need to clean the carb, and verify fuel is getting to it. turn on fuel with fuel line unhooked. if it set the carb is dirty. and not that i care but this is the can-am forun
