I've got a '00 DS and my friend has an '01 DS. We got together with each other for a late night wrench fest to prep a little for this coming weekend's ride. We got to the point where it was time to change the oil and we each got out our oil filters. I've never been a "size matters" kind of guy, but damn his is twice the legnth as mine with the same mount of girth, hehe. I quickly had a bad case of filter envy! So my question is will the oil fiter housing off a '01 bolt up to a '00? Everything looks the same so I'm betting it will. Anyone know for sure? All that extra filtering area would be a nice bonus.

The motors are the same so it should. I heard of one guy who had the dealer upgrade his 2000 DS with the 2001 filter setup.

Not taking any exact measurements, the '01 filter is a little less then twice the length of the '00 filter. I was really amazed at the size difference which is making me want to go to the longer filter housing. Next time your at the dealer have him pull out the two filters and I think you'll be quite supprised. Hopefully I'll get my buddy to pull off the housing tonight and see if it and the filter will bolt up to my '00.

The oil filter housing from the 2001 DS will fit on the 2000. You will need to buy the housing, filter and the two housing bolts. (the 2001's are longer.) See your dealer and he can order the parts.
