So this is my problem is lets start off by saying I bought the bike from my brother and he hasnt used it for over a year and he also informed me the stater was not working, so looked around the wiring thinking something was disconnected when I came across a red wire on the voltage regulator/rectifier so connected the wire charged the battery started the bike and everything untill I was riding the other day when my bike back fired, so I pulled over turned it off, checked all wires fuses found nothing out of the ordinary, so started the bike back up and took off twards the trailer when it shut off and wouldnt start, It had a smell of wires melting that I traced back to the cdi box, i replaced the cdi box started up right away off a push start, so brought it home and put the charger on the battery, when I did that the cdi popped and started smoking. Im really confused of what the problem could be... it would be really awesome if you guys could shine some light on my problem....
