Default 2004 400 outlander wont start.

Bought a 2004 outlander that wont start. Acts like it wants to start while cranking but will not remain running once starter is disengaged. Cleaned carb, new plug. It's getting fuel. Checked compression at 140 psi. Getting fuel and spark. Is there a crank position sensor on these models? The fact I am getting spark leads me to believe it is getting a signal. I have read my service manual but it is vague as to where the timing gear should be located when crank is tdc. I want to check to make sure timing isn't off. Sorry new to this and sorry if this sounds like a story you have heard many times. Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
