John Deer Trail Buck 650 (stalling)
#1
I have a 2005 John Deere trail buck 650, everything runs excellent. However once I take it out on the trail for 10-15 minutes and it gets warm. The ATV stalls (mainly when it gets warm). I have brought it into my local dealer. He said that he believes that it is the ignition coil. Does this sound like this could be the problem? I thought if it was an ignition coil the machine would not start at all, or at the very least , run like crap. - I think it is sounds more like a fuel issue ???
Any thoughts ? - I just don't want the dealership to be replace every at my part at my expense till they actually find the issue!
The part is obsolete so they are not able to get a factory ignition coil, so they had to order it from eBay.
I'm new to this dealership and I just don't want to be taken advantage of!
Thanks

makes sense as you drive it warms up and something in the coil separates or quits working and causes the issue.. Lots of different ways a part can fail... Have you tried a actual john dear dealer for the part? If parts are becoming obsolete for it you may want to look into selling it and finding something that has available parts. I deal with people everyday that buy oddball and older equipment and sink more than the machine is ever worth into it with over priced parts or obsolete parts. We do not give customers a ebay/amazon option if we cannot get it through one of our suppliers then we dont touch it.
you could do a quick test on the fuel and wrap them with a heat wrap or move them and see if the problem persists. May be as simple as the fuel line is old and has sagged down to close to the heat and is boiling the fuel before it hits the carb

Thank you for your response. The unfortunate part of this is that I just purchased this ATV on Kijiji. Yes I brought it to John Deere and they said that certain parts are obsolete, and they're ordering a part from eBay. They also had to order the oil pressure switch it was leaking ! The machine is in excellent condition I will send you some photos.
