I can’t figure out how to remove the cam chain and cams from my ds 650 (2001) and really need some advice.

I hope it might work for you too, firstly take out the cam chain adjuster, then you need to lift the cam enough to pull off the bearings, after that you will be able to get the chain off the cam and slide it out.

 

As far as for The tensioner it is hydraulic, it uses oil pressure to press on the chain. It comes out the back side of the jug. Don’t have to remove anything. Looks like a plug on outside.
