I watched a tv special on the life of Mr.Bombardier quite interesting pretty sure on the show they pronounced it like Bomb Bar Dee A,looks like he started out building a snow-cat type of car

 

Hey Fishbones, sorry it's your bubble that needs to be burst. While Ski-Doo is by far the most popular name and is used/recognized by most people and many companies, would you kindly point out where on your Traxter or DS it says Ski-Doo? It's got a bunch of "Bom-bar-dee-aa" stickers, but nothing else. And everyone calls there snowmobiles "ski-doo's" up here too- regardless of brand. 4-wheelers are all "Honda's", the same goes for soda pop- everything is a "coke."

 

i asked this same question a few months ago./ its pronouced bom bard ee ay. i've heard it pronounced on TV like that too.

 

Around here, if you pronounce Bombardier anywere close to correctly, people will look at you strange and wonder what your talking about. If you say DS-650, a few will know what you mean[we never see traxters]. But if you say "Duner" they all know exactly what you are talking about. I guess we are just lazy I guess, anything more than 1 syllable is too complex for us.

 

Up here in northwest-northcentral PA, a lot of people pronounce it "Bomb-a-deer". I never heard it pronounced "bom-bar-d-a" till I heard ads for it on the radio. As mentioned before, "DS650" is all that matters!

 

Actually, I think that Ski-Doo owns "Bombardier" So it is a Ski-Doo. Just my 2 cents.

Oh, sorry, I don't really like Bombardier so I didn't know which way it was. Sorry for that.

 

Bombardier owns skidoo, sea doo, Rotax, maybe Learjet (or some kind of private jet planes -I'm not a plane fan, so I can't say for sure), Canadair (planes), they make subway cars, trains...it is a HUGE company. Whatever is slightly famous and Canadian is owned (or will be) by Bombardier.
