Try the FULL High Lifter heat fighter kit. The oil additive some how reduces friction on metal to metal surfaces but yet doesn't make the clutch slip. Pretty amazing. I personally got to do that like "electric motor/ ft. lbs of torque" test you some times see on TV and it would not bog that 1 hp motor when added to ANY oil they had at over 150 ft lbs. With Mobile one or Castrol GTx they were only getting about 35 ft lbs threw 45 ft lbs.

Another good thing abotu this is that it actually last longer than one oil change. I noticed that one time they forgot to clean off parts of the tools they were useing and you could clearly see that with just that little bit left over from the last time that the ft lbs went up, but not as much as when they added some more of the oil additive to it.

If you are the kind that you have to SEE THE results to believe them then you can see them here.

About the Super Cool, I've talked to a few people that have used it (gonna be getting some soon for my self) and not one of them has complained at all. ALL of them talk very highly of it.

I'd also like to find a 160 degree thermostat that will fit. Any suggestions on how to go about finding the right size?

Have you tryed BMW for the T-stat? old hot roder trick, take out the stat and put in a flow restricter, (no stat or flow restricter will actualy make it worse) if you have a temp guage you'll be able to custom size it to the best size, Probably start out a little smaller than the hole in the stat since theres no valve restricting flow. another old rodder trick is multi row (front to back) radiators, but after looking at the DS I dont think you could get a thicker radiator in there

That High Lifter heat fighter kit sounds like a pretty good idea but what happens when you change your oil and coolant? Sounds like pretty expensive routine maintenance...

Hey scooby, I was having the same problems last weekend. The fan would come on after a very short ride in the St. Anthony sand dunes in Idaho. Anyway I race off-road race trucks and was haveing problems overheating during a long race (2 hrs) the motor would get to 230 degrees, so i went to a local shop that sells mostly circle track parts and he had a product on the shelf called (40 BELOW), he claimed that this stuff would drop the engine temp at least 30 degrees! So i gave it a try and the last race the motor never got above 190 degrees. I was impressed by this stuff! Its fairly expensive, $25.00 a quart but that quart treats 4 gallons! Well anyway i added 1 cup of 40 BELOW to my DS and the fan never turned on for the rest of the trip! THIS STUFF IS AWSOME!
Well hope that helps! LATER
