Custom X series 2 clearance on jumps
#1
I have a Custom X series 2 pipe and wondered if anyone else has bent it with the brake caliper? Can I space the pipe to the left a little or do I need to tighten the preload up on the rear shock? I hit a few small jumps and dented the pipe in a little when the shock compressed. I am 225 pounds and I know some of you are much heavier, how does yours keep clear for maximum travel? I also have not put another air filter in and left the lid on. It seems to run fine, but would it run better with one size bigger on the main jet? Man, I am full of questions aren't I. One more. Is there anyway to fix the squirrely handling without new A-arms? I'm cheap... Thanks fellows

Well I dont have a custom X (but I'm thinking about getting one) but if your hitting it on small jumps I think you might want more preload (asumeing the pipe is correctly installed) the DS dhould have 3" to 4" of laden sag in the rear, lift the quad up till the shock hits top and take a measurement to the ground then take one with you sitting on it in the riding position, 3" to 4" less. Likewise most DS's seem to need more preload on the front to help handeling, mine were set very soft from the dealer. You wan to check the toe out also, measure from center to center of the tires both in the front of the tire and the rear, the front should be 1/16" to 1/8" wider than the rears, this is a measurement that has worked well for many folks in this forum, hope this helps

I have a Graydon pipe and did the same thing, but is was not a small jump, I was about 10 feet in the air and flew over 50 feet, I was in high third when I hit it. It is only a small dent, not noticable and it only happened once even though I have landed very hard a number of times.
