85# Raptor vs Fourlix
#2
He is out front 90 % of the time. Sometimes I can catch up to him, but I think it's when he's just laying back a little. He would like to have a softer thumb throttle, I know that bothers him after a while. Sometimes, when I am in front, and I think I am really smokin' it, I'll turn around and there he is, just out of my dust.
So yeah, he is definetly doing the Yamaha guys proud, and me too. These are rough, fast mountain trails, well, fast for us. Off-cambers, rock outcroppings, loose rocks and gravel, climbs and drops, varied conditions that demand concentration, even if you are not cookin'. He rides very well, and screws up less than I do.
We have never drag raced these two, just not enough room. We used to religeously drag our old Polarises to see how fast they were, but our little fields aren't big enough to let either of these run. Plus I was kinda waiting for our experience level to catch up with the horsepower. Oh, by the way, now he wants a pipe and a K&N.
You gotta love both these quads. I can see the complaints about the gear-spacing on the Raptor though, on tight fast trails it seems like there is no right gear, I guess the 2002's new ratios cover that. The DS seems to always have the right gear, unless it is too slow or too fast. They both need six-speed gearboxes..
