I went riding yesterday and let a frend drive my ds. He rode hard for a long time and had no problems later when he was riding my buddies warior he went over the handlbars and hurt his leg. After he rested for a while he went back out on my ds and was going to just put around nice and slow. He got onto a real steep side hill that was only abought 4 feet tall and rolled it. The oil return line comes ip right under the plastic nose peice on the left hand side. There is a 90 degree elbo that screws into the side of the tank, and it broke off with the threads flush in the tank yet. Has enyone had this problem? Is there a way to protect it from happening again?
Thanks for any replies

I had mine break off and it is 1/4" or 3/8" pipe tread which I tought was amazing the stock piece is cast aluminum which sucks I replace mine with a brass fitting works great and I am sure I would have broken it off again if it was the crappy stock piece.

My son crashed and broke mine off as well. It is not exactly 90 degrees, don't remember if it was over or under. Dealer happened to have another one in stock so I used it. Use the correct size EZ out and the broke off piece comes out fine. Without some kind of plastic modification I dont see much of anyway of protecting it. Relocating it to another place on the tank... but that won't be easy. I thought about replacing it with a brass elbow but would rather replace the inexpesive cast piece if it happens again and not the oil tank. Make the fitting too strong and the tank will be what get's damaged. Just my 2 cents.
