FLICKERING OIL LIGHT??????
#1
i was riding yesterday and i noticed my oil/temp light started to flicker and when it was at low rpms or just idleing it would be a solid red light.but,if i gave it a little gas it would go out.i thought it was a loose sensor so i wiggled the oil sensor which is just behind the cyclinder on the top of the case and the flickering stopped and the light hasnt came back on.was this just a loose connection or a sensor going bad? this is the 1st time this has ever happen.the oil and water level was fine.so im thinking that this was just a loose sensor wire connection.has this happened to anyone else or do you know of anyone this has happened to? thanks for any help.

The fact that the light reacted to RPM has me concerned. A loose connection may have made it visable earlyer than planned, but it sounds like a possible rod or crank bearing that is starting to get out of tollorance. If this problem returns[the light flickering], STOP RIDING!
I can repair the crank as long as it is caught befor it or the rod gets over heated. The cost of a repair will be a good bit less than just the part if you have a dealer do it. Dealers only sell the entire crank/rod assembly for around $750, and that doesn't include labor. I can do the repair for about 2/3 of that and all you have to do is remove the motor. Also, the repair will cost you almost nothing if you choose to get a 703 or 760 at the same time. I'll do the repair for the cost of the bearing since I'm already tearing the motor down for the kit.
I truely hope, for your sake, that it is only the connection, but I think it might be more, unfortunatly.
The fact that it re-acted to RPM does tell that it's oil trouble and not water. Water is more likely effected by heat instead.

I keep hearing cases of bad rod bearings. Sounds like this is a serious problem. Most people have full time jobs and only ride on weekends. A 4-stroke should not need a re-build such as this, so soon. Are these cases being covered under warranty? What is Bombardier doing about this problem? This would be a potential problem that might prompt me to get rid of the DS before it's too late!
