I have recently bought a DS 650 Baja and I had read before about the weak chain roller on the DS. Does anyone know if they changed it on the new Baja?

I am just curious if it is something I should look at replacing now or wait and see? What should I look for?

Unfortunately, It has been down right frigid up here lately and have not been able to get any riding in and the Baja only has maybe an hour or two. I just need to ride!!!!!!!!

batoutahell......The baja has a new chain roller with bearings in it.The yellow ds chain roller dose not have bearings.I really dont think you will have a prob with the baja chain roller.Just make sure you set your suspension right!!!! Thats the key to a happy chain roller.

I spent 3 days in the dunes on my Baja Over Thanksgiving weekend,I kept a close eye on my roller. The bearing really seems to help,I can see where the chain has been riding on the roller, but with no ill effects. And yes I set the sag before I took it out. When running the bowls hard I know I am on the roller alot.
Jeff

P.S.Always keep a spare though,I do normally but usally end up selling it to some one needs one out at the dunes.Sold 3 sofar.
That and a spare headlamp are must for 3 day trip

Here's a review of the TM roller on BombardierDS650.com. If you own a DS you should check that site out..

Several months ago, chain rollers were discussed in this forum. Someone suggested using a skateboard wheel and 4 bearings. I purchased 4 wheels and 4 bearings for $6. The bolt for the chain roller is the perfect size for this mod. It has worked great, and was very inexpensive. When looking for wheels, make sure to get a harder compound for longevity.
