The sand dunes in Kermit, Texas. How many acres? What type of sand, and how is the weather this time of year?

Winkler County Sand Hills Park (Kermit, Texas) 110 Square Miles of sand dunes, some up to 70' tall, open year round, on the weekends may be 80+ machines. Open dunes and sand trails. NO GLASS CONTAINER'S Camping with no facilities. Bring your own water /etc.

DIRECTIONS: Interstate 20 to Monahans, TX. Take SR-18 North to Kermit. At Kermit take SR-115 10 miles North East to intersection of SR-115 and RR-874. Park is on the left.

This is all I know. I haven't been there myself yet. I would like to go sometime. You would probably need a set of paddle tires though. Your right need another Texas rider to speak up!

Later....

jbomb-we go to kermit about 6 times a year-large riding area, the dunes are not very tall. There are trails on the perimeter approx 15 miles in length.there are 3 covered picnic tables and little else. Kermit is 10 miles down the road. 2 local cheap motels 40.00 a night.Last trip out we covered 220 mile on the trailtech speedo. Most of the time there is fewer than 80 machines out there. In all of my trips out there i have only seen 1 ds650 and 1 cannon. Raptors appear to be taking over.

Is there an official web site that the state puts up talking about these dunes?
Like CA has official BLM web sites about CA deserts.

Thanks,
