Well me and my buddy who just bought a 2002 raptor and I with my 2000 DS650 went to his friends house whos got a 2001 raptor and a 2001 banshee with pipes silencers and some different kind of reeds. well we would line up up 3 wide and a couple times 4 wide. the DS smoked the raptors every time they diddnt have the power through 4th and 5th gear that mine did. The banshee I would run side by side with until I hit my rev limiter in 5th gear.and then he would ever so slowly pull away. I need to figure out a way to get rid of my rev limiter. But it was fun and I was happy with the results. And also for some reason no matter who was driving the two raptors the 2002 always beat the 2001. The 2001 must be a weaker motor.

 

good job badbomb ... thats the results i keep getting untill my buddy moded his craptor a bit ... and the funny thing is i still smoked him ... he put a full fmf power core pipe .. jetted k&n filet moded the air box ...still getting smoked by a stock 2000 ds ....

 

badbombardier650; Congratulations with your wins over the Yamaha club. The DS650 is a force to be reckoned with. After an entire year it seems like I will have the chance to compare my 01 Raptor with a 00 DS650 on this coming Sunday. Just for fun with actual comparisions. It's going to be fun, because I've had my Raptor since Sept. 12, 00 & I haven't gotten the chance to meet up with the mighty DS650.

the 01 and 02 raptors have the same motor, just different gearing. And maybe the drivers had something to do with the race results and not the machines alone. You may just be one heck of a rider. If you had a better rider on the raptor and a worse rider on the ds650, the raptor may just win. Despite what my screen name is on here, i would not choose yamaha over any other quad brand just because of it's name. If the other company has a better product, i would get it instead. I think the ds650 is a great quad, and i would even pick it over the raptor.
