BEWARE BOMBARDIER QUEST XT 650!!!!!!
#1
If your buying a big 4x4 machine, FYI, the quest 650 is suffering from a problem in the trans thats makes it lock in low range with no way of getting it out. I have had 2 of them in 3 months and have had the same problem......and bombadier thinks that $150 worth of accessories will make me happy.....BullCrap! I paid 300 to get the 1st new machine I broke, then replaced it with a new one when they told me it would be 4 weeks before parts came in. So now I pick up the 2nd one from the shop (that experienced the same problem with 76 miles on in plowing 2 inches of snow) today and at first the dealer told me he would give me back the 300 but now there telling me that Bombadier has settled with me, the most they were willing to offer was $150 in parts and accessories or service, that was it no more. I took it, but dont trust what your dlr says only what he is willing to put in writing. Anyway if ya gotta have one of these machines make sure the updated collar has been replaced on the shift linkage or you will end up putting more time and miles on your truck bringing this pile to the dlr than you will have riding the damn thing.

ColdNCruel,
Sorry to hear about your ongoing problem with the Quest. With regards to your desription of the problem "the updated collar has been replaced on the shift linkage", is that what the dealer told you? I'm just wondering because I want to make sure I get mine checked the next time I bring it in to the dealer....

My father and I bought 2002 Quest 650's. We have not had that problem yet. We have 500 mi on them. The problems we had on warrenty were backfiring(when shutting off and during deceleration) and oil in the airbox.(pcv seal leaking) The backfiring was never fixed on either one. They tried jetting and adjusting the airscrew. They then sent a new updated muffler off an '04. They finally gave up on a solution. I fixed it myself, smaller pilot jet to keep extra fuel going into the muffler. The oil in the airbox was from incorrect seal material. The updated them on warrenty and they still leaked. They changed them 2 more times on warrenty. They still leak and will not fix them anymore, I have to. I will warn you of some other problems that they will not help out on. Valve cover and spark plug tube leaks oil, which wrecks the dust seals on the spark plug coil stick. The seals fall apart and chunks end up in your motor. Bombardier says they don't have a problem and we were on our own to fix them. Takes all of an hour to replace them. I guess I will just expect to change $60 worth of seals every oil change. If your susspension is too stiff (Bombardier doesn't think so) I found a kit through Motivan made by Perfex for $150. It increases your ground clearence and gives you a longer softer ride.(relocates the shock mounts) Very easy to install, under 1 hour. We have bought bombardier snowmobiles since the fifties, so we thought we would try the atv's. We are very dissapointed in their attitude! I really believe they needed to do more testing before they brought these out. We will not be buying their product next time. Why do they now offer a 3-year warrenty?(to cover all of their problems) I hope John Deere knows what they are getting into using these quads in their line-up for 2004. Any body out there with more or similar problems? I would love to hear from you, and will personally sent them to Bombardier.
