Hey Bill... If you choose to go with the Mikuni 45, Ron Woods has a lighter spring. I have it and it works great.

Did edelbrock completely scrap the project?

What was to be gained with the carb? Was there ever a dyno run to see what type of power was gained? I assume that the QS at least flowed as well as the stocker, and probably flowed better. I would have been interested in trying one out, but I would like to know what the benefits are before spending the cash.

So what did you gain with the edelbrock?

Cost would have been around $470.00. The one big hold up was the bracket that holds the throttle cable. It is different than the bracket they use on all the other carbs. To make it cost effective they would had too make over 100 units. I pick up about 4 or 5 HP in the low and mid range and just about 1 more on top. I think there is more on top but the stock rubber boot did collapse on the higher rpm's. I have put hose clamps around it and pick up one more gear up Olds. But Edelbrock will not due any more Dyno runs.

I too am extremely interested in the 44 Lectron, and would like more info on it, and details of the installation (compatibility with stock manifolds, throttle, cable, etc). I spoke with Kevin @ Fast by Gast, but he wasn't able to offer alot of assistance with my questions regarding fitment to a stock bike.....only because all the people who have purchased carbs from him have been really happy with the carb's performance, but didn't give him any other feedback. I know Gmann and Jbomb have these carbs, so how about some more info guys, maybe even a picture or 2?
