Toe-in
#1
There's alot of artciles, questions, and comments about the DS being twitchy and wandering in the front end. Here's what I've found below, does anybody have anything to add?
Toe changes dramatically when suspension compresses. Prop the bike up so the shocks are fully extended, measure between front and rear of wheels, then have somebody stand on the front to compress the shocks and measure again. There's almost an inch difference.
Toe needs to be set after the suspension is set for your weight and riding style, and I've found that my quad handles best when toe is measured neutral while I'm sitting on it in normal ride position. This causes a slight toe-in at higher speeds as the front end lifts.
If I loosen spring settings to squat the bike for very plush suspension, toe changes, and needs readjusted for good handling to return.
With my bike set like this, the wandering twitch is practically gone. I recently added Ohtsu radils on all four wheels, and the round front profile combined with super traction in the rear to tone down rear wandering, the handling feels 200% better than stock with no twitch or wander left at all. I've yet to feel it with my Haulers on though...

That sounds pretty complete as far as dealing with the stock setup, Bombardier actualy calls for 1/8" toe out but I think Knutz runs 0 toe and says he likes it better (hope I got that right Knutz) I'll be trying this setup myself this coming seasdon

Yes, I have my girlfriend measure it for me while I'm sitting on it.
Neutral toe set with me on it ends up measuring a little toed in when I get off - measuring toe with no rider weight gives false info...
Keep in mind though, what works well for me may not work for you - you have to try out different settings until you find what's best for your stile of riding. You may like the 1/8" toe out, or 1/8" toe in for that matter, but the 3/4" toe out my bike was set from the dealer would suck for anybody.
