The new ATV SPORT has a large, 2 page an on the DS650.....get this....the subject is "Don't Just Hit The Trail. Pound It Mercilessly". More wording says "But it's equally at home on the dunes or a hard packed trail".
Surprised that Bomby has switched their marketing direction from the "DUNE ONLY" machine to an "ALL AROUND" machine, so passed it along.......,.

It's good that they're doing so. I know a lot of people don't think that the DS is a good trail quad, but I've used it as such and loved it. I installed a DG Baja skid plate under the swingarm and took off. It handles great and is most definitely NOT too big for it in my opinion. As far as I'm concerned, for the DS, "Home is where you hit the throttle".

10/4. I've always thought it was a mistake to market the DS as a dune machine only. Although it kicks **** at the dunes, it also is more than capable in other riding conditions. It does thrash some sand!

I rode my Bomb in some super tight trails this weekend. With my xct holeshots and a swingarm I was able to roll over and through every thing in the path.

I ride tight wooded trails 90% of the time. I have yet to run into any circumstance where I had problems because the DS was "too big". It's about time they marketed towards this segment.

Ive said it once and I will say it again. If the majority of the trails that you ride are too narrow for the DS. You probably dont need to be riding a 660cc Raptor either. Most of the trail riding I do is very wide trails and wide open spaces.

EXACTLY! I've not ridden a trail that is too narrow for the DS yet. Of course, where I live, you'll get a ticket for riding a quad on the bicycle trails anyways LOL!

Sure, the DS IS wider than all of the other production quads, but that's one of the many reasons why we love it right? Most (maybe not all) folks who mention this to bash the DS would like to get a wider axle on their quad! They just don't like the idea of having to pay so much to do so. I don't know of any trail in my area where an additional 2-4" wheelbase on some of the smaller quads would impede their trail riding capabilities.

This year, Bombardier is going to use a much more direct marketing plan. Watch for adds that are aimed directly at the competition and at the claimed "shortcomings" of the Bombardier quads. It's a new way to market their products, and I think it's the right way.

I always knew the DS was cappable enough in the woods, but the media trashed it because it wasn't the usual. I will admitt, for racing in the woods, it would be nice to be slightly narrower, but it can be made narrow, just as the Raptor can be made wider.

I think it's better the DS is marketed as a all-around machine than a niche machine. I ride mostly trails with mine. BTW, the red & black looks cool.
