I'm trying to figure out if the CDI ignition box has a ignition kill input. The 2001 wiring diagram doesn't show a dedicated ignition kill input, but I noticed the CDI box has an unconnected wire, so i wonder if this is an ignition kill input?

I've heard there may be a different wiring harness that connects to the CDI box connector for 2002. Does anyone know if for 2002 Bombardier wired into the kill input, if it really is a kill input?

Scooby,
I went through this a while back when I put a tether type kill switch on. The kill switch on the bars has a kill wire that goes to ground when you shut it off. I think its a white/black wire that can be accessed behind thehead light. I would be a little nervous trying anything else.

Be extremly carefull when trying to figure out the ignition box. I learned something extremly informative a couple weeks back. It seems that the stock boxes and the aftermarket boxes are the exact same box. The box actually contains several curves to them, and programing can be changed by jumping from certain leads to other certain leads. Rotax and Nipondenso[the manufacturer] will never reliese these "codes" of how to do it, but the box is built to "fry itself" if it's done wrong. While trying to find this "kill" wire, be careful not to "kill" the box.

Wow, that sounds SOOOOOO typical of companies from that part of the globe. It all comes down to the dollar, or in this case, Yen.

If I understand correctly, The boxes are visually identical so taking them apart wont reveal any differences.

the internal wireing will be different, there may even be a set of microswitchs or just a coupla different circuits with the primary leads that can be resoldered, or even a small jumper wire- this would be very well worth looking into - any body have a fried cdi???- I would be willing to open my stock unit maybe even my pami unit if it's not going to destroy the case permanently.

Ok, NOT! a good idea, I started into the stock CDI and was attempting to remove the black rubbery sealant, on the end where the wires exit the box and they have poured the sealant into the box and it coats the circuitry. Somebody more ambitious than I can tear their box apart - I'm stopping here!

Major, I beleive that knutz said he tried to tear into one also and ended up ruining the entire box. So, I don't think it can be done without ruining the box.
